In terms of design and style, Windows Vista is defined by the Windows Aero graphical user interface. Complete with glass and transparency effects, the resource hungry UI does manage to give Vista an identity among Windows products, even though the translucent eye candy comes at a heavy price in terms of hardware requirements and resource consumption. However, it is obvious that Microsoft considers Windows Aero nothing short of a success, and is transitioning elements of the Aero design outside of Windows Vista, in an effort to create a complete and unified user experience around its products.

Case in point: the Wireless Laser Desktop 7000. From the perspective of the Redmond company, the new Windows Aero inspired Wireless Laser Desktop 7000 is set up to complement Windows Vista.

Users will be able to immediately recognize the translucent design of Windows Aero in the ultrathin Comfort Curve keyboard and rechargeable mouse, both of which are available in the image at the top of this article. (Please Note: the image does not reflect accurately the true proportions of the two products, as the mouse was enhanced for the sake of providing additional details.) Users will be able to benefit from floating Hot Keys, as well as streamlined access to Windows Flip 3D.

"This keyboard is a perfect example of Microsoft's focus on connecting its hardware with Windows Vista, bringing the elegance of Windows Aero to the keyboard. The Wireless Laser Desktop 7000 truly brings the best of both worlds together - a beautiful design and a full suite of productivity features - making it the best option for customers desiring a sophisticated accessory for their computer," explained Carla Forester, group marketing manager at Microsoft.

Starting in April 2008, as Windows Vista SP1 will hit the shelves, so will the Wireless Laser Desktop 7000. Microsoft announced that the Desktop's price would be approximately $130. "We are thrilled to see the simplicity and beauty of the Windows Vista Aero experience conveyed in the Wireless Laser Desktop 7000. With the smoked translucent border and floating keys, this keyboard is a true extension of the dynamic design of Windows Vista," added Jeff Price, senior director in the Windows Group at Microsoft.
