Microsoft has recently announced that a new hackathon session will commence next month all over the world, with free music and food to be offered to all those who attend.

Windows 8 needs apps so bad that it doesn’t even matter that Microsoft is spending quite a fortune to bring developers together and teach them how to create apps for the new operating system.

The event will close its doors on November 11 and will be specifically focused on the new Windows 8 and Windows RT platforms. Microsoft experts and developers will be there to help you, the Redmond-based technology company said in a statement.

“There will be dozens of event venues from college campuses to Microsoft offices, all buzzing with energy, music, free food and more. New venues being added daily – check back to find the event near you,” Microsoft explained.

“Microsoft app experts, developers and trainers will be available to assist your learning and coding.”

Microsoft’s efforts to teach developers how to create apps for Windows 8 platforms are not at all surprising. The company has pretty high expectations from its new operating system and expects Windows Store to provide access to at least 100,000 apps by February 2013.

The Windows Store currently holds a total of 5,500 apps at a global level, most of them free. The “Games” category remains on the first position, but Microsoft expects the number of apps submitted to Windows Store to skyrocket after the Windows 8 October 26 launch.
