Could the rumors we've all heard finally become reality?

Even though rumors regarding a new Xbox console started to be heard before the 360 was launched, it seems that now we have more reasons to believe that Microsoft is indeed working on something new that could really be the next generation of consoles. And that is the thing people were expecting to hear for quite a while... so let's see the facts.

Not long ago, Microsoft has posted a job ad on its career page, for the role of a program manager to work in the Xbox department. The candidates should have a 2+ years of production experience, while previous developing for Xbox and Xbox Live are a plus.

"Want to be involved in the next release of Xbox? Join the server-backed games team, part of the Xbox LIVE team that's responsible for creating a completely new way for mainstream audiences to enjoy the Xbox and LIVE," the ad says.

More details emerge as you read further: "We're building the games, the console interface and logic, and the server support for a totally new LIVE experience. Both the games and the dashboard experience will be deeply paired with dynamic server support to create a compelling, fresh scenario each time. We're a small, entrepreneurial team working together to get things done very quickly in an agile environment. If you want to work in a space where you'll get all the responsibility you can swallow, and run as fast as you can, this team is for you."

One thing is clear: "totally new" are the words they use describing what we should expect. Even though it could be only a new interface or a complete re-design of the Xbox Live interface, it could still be a hint that Microsoft has bigger plans. And they should, since the SexBox and Xbox3600 (or whatever) consoles are already starting to flood the Japanese market.
