Talent often gets swapped between companies, directly or indirectly, and this is exactly what happened between ARM and Micron.

Not deliberately though. After all, Warren East didn't leave his post as ARM chief executive officer just to join Micron's board of directors.

Nevertheless, the man that left ARM on July 1, after serving as CEO since October 2001, is now part of Micron's BOD, and will be for a while.

"Warren transformed ARM during his tenure as CEO, and we are confident his contributions will strengthen our board," said Micron CEO Mark Durcan in a statement.

Micron is well positioned to grow in importance now that is has integrated Elpida. Having some extra business acumen courtesy of a former, successful CEO, to draw on can only help in the long run.
