Micromax subsidiary Yu has finally pulled the veil off the much anticipated Yuphoria handset today. According to the company, the Yuphoria device has been completely designed in India and will become available for purchase shortly in the country.

The handset arrives with a 5-inch HD IPS display with 1280 x 720 pixel resolution and Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection. The juice box living under the bonnet of the device is a 1.2GHz 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 quad-core processor fitted with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage (we are told nothing about a microSD card).

On the imagining front, Yuphoria arrives with an 8MP f/2.2 camera on the back complete with LED flash, plus a 5MP f/2.0 wide-angle shooter on the front.

The phone has been launched with Android 5.0.2-based Cyanogen OS on board, a 2,230 mAh battery with Quick Charge support, 4G LTE and dual-SIM connectivity.

Yu Yuphoria is an Amazon India exclusive

If you are curious about dimensions, the handset measures 142.38 x 72.96 x 8.2 mm / 5.5 x 2.87 x 0.32 inches and weighs only 170 g / 0.37 lbs.

Yu will start offering the new Yuphoria phone starting May 28 exclusively via Amazon India. The phone will ship out in either Buffed Steel or Champagne Gold for just $109 / €98, which is quite affordable.

Interestingly enough, Yu didn't choose to bump the specs on the Yuphoria smartphone, if we are to compare it to its predecessor, the Yureka.

The previous handset launched in January 2015 and arrived with a 5.5-inch IPS LCD display with the same 1280 x 720 pixel resolution. What’s even more surprising is that the Yureka bundled the more capable octa-core Snapdragon 615 chipset, fitted with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage (expandable to 32GB). It also shipped with an Android 4.4 KitKat-based version of CyanogenMod 11, but the company shortly updated the smartphone to Lollipop.

Albeit we’re hearing reports from our readers that the update brings about a problem with disconnecting phone calls.

Anyway, the Yu brand seems to be quite popular in India and customers are surely excited to see another phone from that range grace the market. The new Yuphoria is also supposedly very resistant, as the video below, which leaked before the announcement, proves well enough.
