14 DAY TRIAL // As expected, Indian OEM Micromax unveiled its next innovative Android smartphone, the Canvas Sliver 5. According to Micromax, the Canvas Sliver 5 is the slimmest smartphone on the market.
But there's a catch, as Micromax's new smartphone is about 5.1mm thin, which means it's not actually the sleekest on the market since Vivo, Oppo and other handset makers have much slimmer phones.
Well, according to Micromax, the Canvas Sliver 5 is the thinnest smartphone without bumps. This means that all the other smartphones that claim this title, while slimmer than Canvas Sliver 5, their bumps on the back make them slightly thicker.
Anyway, the Micromax Canvas Sliver 5 will be available for purchase in India beginning July 1 for Rs 17,999 outright, which is about $280 or €250.
The phone will be available in black or white, and those who purchase the phone will also receive a free Airtel 4G SIM and Airtel 4G Double Data offer for 3 months, a new report claims.
In addition, Micromax also offers Onsite Care service, which means that it will pick up the phone for service and delivers it within 7 days.
It's made of aircraft grade aluminum materials.
Moving on to specs, the Canvas Sliver 5 ships with Android 5.0 Lollipop operating system right out of the box. The phone sports a 4.8-inch AMOLED capacitive touchscreen display that supports HD (720p) resolution and features Corning Gorilla Glass 3 coating.
On the inside, the smartphone is equipped with a 1.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor, 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal memory. However, the Canvas Sliver 5 lacks microSD card slot.
There's also an 8-megapixel photo snapper on the back, which features Sony IMX219 sensor, autofocus, LED flash and full HD (1080p) video recording, while in the front there's a secondary 5-megapixel camera for selfies.
Other highlights of the phone include dual-SIM and 4G LTE support, as well as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS with AGPS and 2,000 mAh battery.
