Shortly after unveiling two Canvas Fun series smartphones, Indian company Micromax announced the immediate availability of another Android handset, the Canvas Ego A113.

Given the fact that Micromax launches new products on a weekly basis, the announcement doesn’t come as a surprise.

As AndroidOS points out, the Micromax Canvas Ego A113 is now available for purchase via major retailers across the country for only Rs 12,999 ($190/€145) outright.

Although it has been priced a bit higher at Rs 14,999 ($220/ €170), some authorized resellers are already offering major discounts to customers.

The Canvas Ego A113 seems to have been priced pretty low in comparison with what it has to offer, but this would be Micromax’s only chance to compete with more important brands such as Samsung, HTC and LG.

According to Micromax, the Canvas Ego A113 ships with Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean operating system out of the box. Hopefully, the phone will receive an upgrade to a newer Android version, but this has yet to be confirmed by the manufacturer.

Hardware-wise, Canvas Ego A113 looks more than decent. It packs a powerful enough 1.2 GHz quad-core processor, 1GB of RAM and 4GB of internal memory.

Obviously, there are less than 4GB of free memory available to use, but owners of the smartphone can further expand storage up to 32GB via microSD memory card.

In addition, the smartphone sports a large enough 4.7-inch WVGA capacitive touchscreen display that supports 480 x 800 pixels resolution.

Dual-SIM support and 3G connectivity are included as well, along with a 2,000 mAh Li-Ion battery that has yet to be rated by the manufacturer.

On the back, the mid-range Android smartphone sports an 8-megapixel photo snapper with LED flash, autofocus and video recording. Micromax has yet to confirm whether or not Canvas Ego A113 features a secondary front-facing camera.
