Unveiled back in January and up for purchase in mid-February, the 5-inch Micromax A116 Canvas HD has been out of stock for quite a while now, although users had the possibility to back-order it for when new units would become available.

Apparently, those users who ordered the phone and who were supposed to receive it as soon as this week will have to wait a bit more to receive it, at least this is what Micromax’s online partner Snapdeal has announced.

The company announced on Facebook that shipments have been pushed back by 10 days, but that the first batch of devices has already been sent to those who ordered it.

“We understand your concern and it is unfortunate that Micromax had to delay the orders due to procedural issues. Our team has vehemently dispatched the first lot of the orders despite the demand for it being at its peak,” the company announced.

Starting with February 14, mobile phone users in India have had the possibility to purchase the Micromax A116 Canvas HD smartphone for Rs. 13,990 ($257 / €199), yet it seems that this has just changed as well.

New customers will have to pay Rs. 14,499 ($267 / €206) for the smartphone, a price adjustment that was made as the result of “the increase in customs duty on mobile phones,” the company unveils.

The company also notes that those who would like to cancel their orders for the device can do so, with a promise of full refund. Users who ordered the phone before the cost change will receive it at the old price.

Announced with a 5-inch (1280 x 720 pixels) HD IPS touchscreen and a 1.2GHz dual-core processor packed inside, the A116 Canvas HD promises appealing features at a low price tag, and has enjoyed increased popularity among mobile phone users in India.

In fact, Micromax and Snapdeal managed to sell over 9,000 units in the first 24 hours of availability, just as fonearena notes in a recent post.

The smartphone also sports 1GB of RAM, 4GB of internal memory, microSD memory card slot, an 8MP photo snapper on the back, 2MP front camera, 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, and Google’s Android 4.1 Jelly Bean loaded on top.
