Indian OEM Micromax will soon launch yet another mid-range Android smartphone, the sequel to Canvas Elanza, which was pretty popular among fans of Google’s operating system.

According to MicromaxCanvas, the upcoming smartphone should be officially introduced in India this month and will go on sale for around Rs 9,000 ($150 / €105) which is a great price judging by the phone’s specs sheet.

Dubbed Micromax Canvas Elanza 2, the smartphone will ship with Android 4.3 Jelly Bean operating system out of the box, which is a slight improvement considering that its predecessor is powered by Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean platform.

In fact, Android 4.3 is an improvement over most of the mid-range smartphones that have lately been released in India. This will certainly be a selling point and a major feature for Canvas Elanza 2 given the fierce competition on the Indian smartphone market.

Furthermore, Micromax Canvas Elanza 2 will offer dual-SIM capability with dual standby support, along with 3G connectivity and built-in GPS.

Micromax fans interested in getting the Canvas Elanza 2 may want to know that the smartphone offers 21Mbps/5.76Mbps support for data transfer and is fully compatible with GSM900 / 1800MHz and WCDMA900 / 2100MHz network bands.

On the inside, Micromax Canvas Elanza 2 has a 1.2GHz quad-core processor, but no additional info on the amount of RAM has been spotted yet.

It would be great if the smartphone were packed with 1GB of RAM, but we suspect that the Indian company will only put in 512MB to keep the price tag of the device on the low side.

The Canvas Elanza 2 is likely to feature only 4GB of internal memory, but it will surely pack microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 32GB).

Another major selling point of the Canvas Elanza 2 will be the 5-inch capacitive touchscreen display that supports HD (720p) resolution.

On the back, there’s an enhanced 8-megapixel photo snapper with autofocus, LED flash and full HD (1080p) video recording, while in the front, there’s a secondary 2-megapixel camera for video calls.

Last but not least, Micromax Canvas Elanza 2 is powered by a decent 2000 mAh battery, which should provide up to 240 hours of standby time or up to 7.5 hours of talk time.

We will keep an eye out for any additional details on the Canvas Elanza 2’s exact release date, so stay tuned for more updates on the matter.
