We reported a few days ago that another mid-range Android smartphone branded with Micromax’s logo leaked online and now it looks like the so-called Canvas Elanza 2 has just been listed on the Indian OEM’s official website.

As fonearena points out, the Canvas Elanza 2 is an upgrade of the Canvas Elanza and comes with slightly better features. Unfortunately, there’s no telling when exactly the smartphone will go on sale, though rumor has it that the Canvas Elanza 2 will be available for purchase for Rs 9,000 ($150 / €110) outright.

For the time being, only the black color is listed on Micromax’s website, so we suspect that this is the only option that customers will have when purchasing the smartphone.

The Canvas Elanza 2 is also known as Micromax A121 and unlike many mid-range Android smartphones that are launched in India these days, this one comes with a newer version of Google’s mobile platform.

According to the official specs sheet, Micromax Canvas Elanza 2 will ship with Android 4.3 Jelly Bean operating system out of the box, which is much better than the usual Android 4.2 that powers 95% of the mid-range smartphones recently launched in India.

Another strong point of the Canvas Elanza 2 would be the 5-inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen display that supports HD (720p) resolution. When it comes to hardware, the smartphone offers more than decent features.

Micromax has equipped the Canvas Elanza 2 with a 1.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 processor, 1GB of RAM and 4GB of internal memory. Obviously, given the low amount of storage, the smartphone comes with microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 32GB).

On the back, the mid-range handset packs an impressive 8-megapixel photo snapper that features LED flash, autofocus and full HD (1080p) video recording. There’s also a secondary 2-megapixel camera in the front for selfies and video calls.

Dual-SIM capability is another feature vital for the success of an Android smartphone in India, and the Canvas Elanza 2 offers this as well.

Other connectivity options included in the smartphone have already been confirmed by Micromax, so customers should expect to get 3G HSPA+, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0 and built-in GPS.

The smartphone is powered by a decent enough 2000 mAh battery, which has yet to be rated by the manufacturer. It also comes with FM Radio, 3.5mm audio jack and microUSB support. Stay tuned for more updates on the Canvas Elanza 2’s release in India.
