Micromax announced last week that it would launch another budget-friendly Android smartphone in India, the Bolt A40. Today, the company has silently released the Micromax Bolt A40 entry-level handset in India via Infibeam.

As expected, the phone has been priced according to its hardware and software configuration, so Android fans in India will be able to pick this one up for only Rs 5,999 off contract, which is about $95 or €70.

Infibeam claims that it can ship orders in 2-3 working days and it waived all shipping charges, so customers won’t have to pay any additional fees except the phone’s price.

Micromax Bolt A40 is delivered with an old Android 2.3.5 Gingerbread operating system out of the box. This is way behind the current version of Google’s mobile platform, so those who wish a much newer Android variant should skip this one.

The smartphone is equipped with a single-core Spreadtrum SC6820 processor clocked at 1GHz, which is complemented by 512MB of RAM and 512MB of internal memory.

Unfortunately, only 75MB are available for apps installation, but users can further expand storage via microSD card slot (up to 32GB).

Speaking of applications, Micromax Bolt A40 comes pre-loaded with the following software: EYE Room, M!Live, 3in1 Bubbles, Opera Mini, Hike and Spuul.

Micromax’s Bolt A40 smartphone sports a pretty decent 4.5-inch capacitive touchscreen display that supports 480 x 854 pixels resolution and 16 million colors.

On the back, the handset packs a sub-par 2-megapixel photo snapper with LED flash, while in the front, there’s a secondary VGA camera for video calls.

Other highlights of the phone include EDGE and GPRS support, built-in GPS, Bluetooth, as well as a decent 1500 mAh Li-Ion battery that has been rated by the manufacturer for up to 175 hours of standby time or up to 4.5 hours of talk time.
