14 DAY TRIAL // Many of you probably remember Google's announcement from last year talking about the next billion of people that should become Android users in the next couple of years.
In that regard, Google launched a new initiative called Android One with the purpose of making smartphones accessible in emerging markets.
Android One devices are guaranteed to receive OS upgrades for 2 years, which is one of the reasons many customers prefer to get Nexus and GPE phones covered by the same update policy.
Indian company Micromax launched an Android One smartphone last year in September. Dubbed Micromax A1, the smartphone did not sell that well in India, even though it was pretty cheap.
However, it looks like the Android OEM has decided to launch yet another Android One smartphone in India, the A1 AQ4502. The smartphone is an upgrade to the previous A1 model and is meant to refresh Android One in India.
In order to attract customers, Micromax A1 AQ4502 has been priced at around Rs 6,000 ($95 / €85) outright, which is quite a nice price considering the phone's specs sheet.
It comes with more storage than the previous model
First of all, the new and improved A1 ships with Android 5.1 Lollipop operating system right out of the box, which is the latest version of the OS.
In addition, Micromax has increased the amount of storage from 4GB to 8GB. However, aside from that there are no differences between the two A1 smartphones.
This means that Micromax A1 AQ4502 sports a 4.5-inch display that supports 480 x 854 pixels resolution. It also packs a 1.3GHz quad-core MediaTek MT6582 processor, which is complemented by a Mali-400MP2 graphics processing unit and 1GB of RAM.
There's also a 5-megapixel camera in the back, which features autofocus, LED flash and HD (720p) video recording, as well as secondary 2-megapixel camera in the front.
It comes with dual-SIM support, 1,700 mAh removable battery, and a range of connectivity options such as 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, microUSB 2.0, FM Radio and GPS with AGPS.
