MicroVision played its part as developer and promoter of ultra-miniature laser display technologies and created what it calls the perfect accessory for content haring on the move, mostly because of its size.

Projectors might have been restricted to just cinemas and a few enterprise applications at first, but they come in such small form factors now that anyone can buy one if they so wish.

It turns out that a pocket-sized pico projector based on laser technology is precisely what MicroVision created.

Giving it the name of SHOWWX+ HDMI, the company has already certified it for use with Apple's product line (iPhone, iPad, iPad 2, iPod touch etc.) and other things, like Windows 7 slates, notebooks, netbooks and Symbian smartphones.

The BlackBerry playbook is also among the supported devices, as is pretty much every ultraportable gadget equipped with HDMI.

“We are giving road warriors the ability to share digital content in a compelling manner, from the palms of their hands,” said Alexander Tokman, president and CEO of MicroVision.

“Extending our connectivity expands our device ecosystem. Now even more mobile device users can break free from huddling around their palm or pad-sized screens to enjoy a bigger and more immersive viewing experience anywhere, at work or play.”

The SHOWWX+ HDMI can be employed as a business collaboration tool, on-the-go or otherwise, and can also switch to offering big screen entertainment, since HDCP compliance means that any digital rights-protected content will be playable.

Finally, mobile gaming applications can also benefit from the in-motion laser display technology, since the images do not go through “color break-up.”

With a manufacturer suggested retail price (MSRP) of $369, the MicroVision SHOWWX+ HDMI is up for pre-order and can be sold along side VGA docks, car chargers, spare batteries, extended HDMI cables, carrying cases and other accessories.
