14 DAY TRIAL // Until not long ago, tabs and the glossies were saying that the latest, hottest “accessory” in Tinseltown was a toddler. While that remains debatable, there’s no doubt that there are many very stylish female celebrities out there – and most of them also happen to be on mommy duty all the time.
PopEater sat down with Piper Weiss, author “My Mom the Style Icon,” to try and determine which was the most effortlessly stylish celebrity mom in Hollywood and, after some consideration, Weiss decided that person was Michelle Williams.
Not only is Michelle an incredibly down-to-earth and low-profile actress (and an incredibly talented one, while at it), but she also has an original, quirky style that is funky and fresh, while also very relatable at the same time.
Clearly, it’s easy to be either of the above; it’s harder when it comes to meeting all these “requirements” at once, but Michelle seems to be doing it without the least bit of effort and, based on reports, without much help from a stylist either.
Michelle is like Mia Farrow updated, Weiss believes, which is what makes her style so beautiful.
“The mini frocks, the daytime jean Seberg striped shirts. She’s right out of another time, when people still used film and it took a long time before it developed,” Weiss says for the aforementioned celebrity e-zine.
“There’s something very romantic about it. It also adds to her mystique. She doesn’t look like she’s trying, which is especially important for ‘mom’ style. When it comes to public perception of celebrities, you don’t want to look like you spent more time primping yourself than hanging with your kid,” the author argues.
More importantly, while there’s a very distinct hobo streak to Michelle’s style, she can also be very glamorous on the red carpet when need be and that’s also very important for a bona fide cinema star.
This – and so much more – make of Williams one of the most appreciated and understated female celebrities in Hollywood.
