Oscar-winning filmmaker and author Michael Moore is joining the line of celebrities offering money to pay WikiLeaks’ Julian Assange bail. In a lengthy note on The Daily Beast, Moore explains his reasons for doing so, while offering his full support for WikiLeaks.

Moore has never been one afraid to speak his mind, regardless on whose toes he might step when he’s doing it. As such, it’s not really that much of a wonder that he chose WikiLeaks and Assange as his latest cause for which to militate.

In The Daily Beast post, the director says WikiLeaks is a terrorist organization – but not in the way many public figures, politicians and even media outlets would have us believe. WikiLeaks is striking terror in the hearts of the real terrorists.

Because of that and because of the website’s policy of transparency at all costs, not only is Moore taking $20,000 out of his own pocket for Assange’s bail, but he’s also offering his own servers for WikiLeaks.

“Yesterday, in the Westminster Magistrates Court in London, the lawyers for WikiLeaks co-founder Julian Assange presented to the judge a document from me stating that I have put up $20,000 of my own money to help bail Mr. Assange out of jail,” Moore begins his open letter by saying.

“Furthermore, I am publicly offering the assistance of my website, my servers, my domain names and anything else I can do to keep WikiLeaks alive and thriving as it continues its work to expose the crimes that were concocted in secret and carried out in our name and with our tax dollars,” the director continues.

One should never believe what government officials say, Moore adds, which is why having a website like WikiLeaks shining the light on essential aspects that should not be kept from the public is of vital importance.

“They exist to terrorize the liars and warmongers who have brought ruin to our nation and to others. Perhaps the next war won't be so easy because the tables have been turned – and now it’s Big Brother who’s being watched… by us!” Moore proclaims in the same letter.

WikiLeaks and Assange should get out thanks and not be prosecuted by justice on false claims, the director further says. Because of this, he’s only doing his bid in helping bring some attention to the injustice that is being done right before our very eyes.

“WikiLeaks exists, in part, because the mainstream media has failed to live up to its responsibility. The corporate owners have decimated newsrooms, making it impossible for good journalists to do their job. There’s no time or money anymore for investigative journalism. Simply put, investors don’t want those stories exposed. They like their secrets kept… as secrets,” Moore says.
