The Dancing With the Stars controversy rages on, with judge Bruno Tonioli getting some unexpected support from Kelly Osbourne, who takes his side against Michael Bolton.

As fans must know, in the second week of the show, the crooner was voted off after getting some very bad reviews from Bruno on his jive – together with a score of 3.

Shortly after he left the dancefloor, Bolton told the cameras Bruno owed him an apology because his comments had been “disrespectful” and “inappropriate.”

Kelly Osbourne, a former contestant on DTWS, is also speaking out on the so-called feud by taking Bruno’s side, People magazine informs.

At the end of the day, the reality star says, if you don’t want to be judged harshly, don’t go on a show where there is a person who is paid to judge you harshly, she says of Bolton’s reaction.

At the same time, she also agrees that Bruno was a bit too cold in his comments on the singer’s dance – then again, this is what he’s paid to do.

“I thought that Bruno was really harsh on Michael Bolton, but when you watch it you can understand why he was really harsh,” Osbourne says of the whole brouhaha.

“[Bruno’s] a judge, and that’s what he gets paid to do,” Kelly notes very matter-of-factly.

“He’s the shock jock of the judging panel. Yes, he was hard, but don’t go on a show where you have to judge if you don’t want to be judged!” she adds.

As it happens, Bolton himself doesn’t quite see things in this light, as we also reported over the weekend.

According to him, the mere fact that he mustered the courage to learn to do something new – in front of an audience of millions, no less – should suffice to protect him from this type of harsh criticism.

Bruno needs to do some soul searching, Bolton said, and to remember what his mission on the show was – because it certainly wasn’t that of crushing people with his rude comments.

“I own responsibility for not getting the scores that we needed the second week and I don’t want people to think I’m saying we would have won the show or something if it weren’t for Bruno,” Bolton said.

“I just think Bruno needs to remember what the spirit of the show he’s on is. The spirit of that show is lighthearted and inviting people to face something very, very scary and challenging and do something that enriches your life and the lives of the huge audience that is watching,” the singer added.
