Michael Bay backtracks on previous comment, says Ninja Turtles will stay true to the mythology

About a year ago, when he spoke about his new film, the “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles,” which he’s producing, Michael Bay said they would not be mutant, but alien. In other words, he told fans he would mess with the mythology, by rewriting the origin of the characters from scratch.

“These turtles are from an alien race, and they are going to be tough, edgy, funny, and completely lovable,” were Bay’s exact words.

Even though there is video to prove he said that (check it out below), Michael Bay is now saying that making the Turtles alien was never his intention.

Come to think of it, he doesn’t even understand where fans would get such a silly idea from.

“There was that quote saying that we’re making [the Ninja Turtles as] aliens. We’re not. It’s the ooze! It’s from the original source material,” Bay says.

“These are from the original writers, and I never went out to correct myself in the press. I do listen to the fans and I do want this to be authentic. I think they’re going to be really happy with this movie. When I see the digital stuff, the turtles look great,” he adds.
