The upcoming Metro Redux has reportedly received a minor resolution bump on the Xbox One, running at a native 912p, which is only slightly higher than the initially promised 900p.

The information comes from a Digital Foundry report, following an analysis of the upcoming first-person shooter in action, showing that the Xbox One edition still can't catch up to the PlayStation 4's native 1080p resolution, in spite of the latest update to the Xbox One SDK.

Digital Foundry speculates that developer 4A Games may have chosen to utilize the extra resources available as a result of the latest SDK update, dropping the 10 percent GPU reserve held for Kinect, to help the game lock down a steady 60 frames per second, instead of making a push for higher resolution.

In any case, the report also states that "there's not much in the way of difference between Xbox One and PlayStation 4," as the high-contrast areas that would potentially expose jagged lines are few and far between, due to the fact that Metro is mostly played in darker environments, and that Metro Redux' post-process anti-aliasing does a good job of smoothing edges.

The crew notes that the biggest difference between the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 editions of the upcoming shooter "comes from the level of 'shimmer' generated by post-processed smoothed-off geometry," which is marginally more noticeable on Xbox One.

Digital Foundry has also released two side-by-side comparison videos, showing the improvements in the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 versions of the upcoming game, compared to how the original games looked on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 consoles.

Metro Redux is a package consisting of the remastered versions of 4A Games' Metro 2033 and Metro: Last Light, which have been greatly improved over the originals, from running at a smooth 60 frames per second to many notable tweaks to gameplay, bringing a lot of the new things from Last Light into 2033, as well as introducing a variety of different difficulty levels for players who are looking for a challenge.

The game takes place in the wake of a nuclear war, when humankind is forced to live beneath the Earth's crust, in the extensive network of subway tunnels that runs under Moscow, far away from the deadly effect of the radiation outside.

In addition to the danger of nuclear fallout, many animals have mutated into aggressive monsters which make travel in the outside world a deadly peril. In addition to this, a group of mysterious creatures known as the Dark Ones are also threatening mankind's survival, and players will step into the shoes of Artyom, a young survivor, tasked with investigating the matter.

Metro Redux is coming out on August 26 in North America, and August 29 in Europe, for PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
