Meteorites strike the Earth all the time, even big ones as the one that hit Russia recently. But the Earth is a big place, so the chances of spotting one are slim.

The chances of one hitting your house are even slimmer – you're more likely to win the lottery.

But one meteorite did strike a home in Connecticut, crashing through the roof and damaging the ceiling of the kitchen.

The meteorite is only the size of a baseball, but at the speed it was traveling, it packed enough punch to do some damage.

At first, the owner believed a rock from a plane was the culprit, since the home is near two airports.

But it turns out that's not the case, as scientists examined it and concluded that it is indeed an object from outer space.
