Metal Gear Solid 5: Ground Zeroes has a special Deja-Vu mission on the PS3 and PS4 platforms that references the very first game in the series and Konami has just offered a few more details about the walk down memory lane.

Metal Gear Solid 5 is such a big game that series creator Hideo Kojima decided to split it into two actual experiences, as Ground Zeroes will first appear and act as a lower-priced prequel, followed by The Phantom Pain, a full-fledged game.

Yesterday, during the PS4 All Access show in honor of the PS4's launch in North America, Hideo Kojima confirmed that Metal Gear Solid 5: Ground Zeroes will have a special Deja-Vu mission on the PS3 and PS4 platforms.

Now, Konami has offered a full description of the experience, which references the very first Metal Gear Solid that appeared on the PSone.

"Users will be able to access a unique ‘MGS1 Deja-Vu’ mission that references key events from the original PSOne classic, Metal Gear Solid. The exclusive mission tasks the user with reproducing famous scenes from the original game," the company said in an official statement.

"As players recreate the iconic moments, a flashback system reproduces the original graphical style of the original PSOne game - complete with greatly reduced ‘vintage’ polygon count - and introduces familiar enemies and weather conditions for added authenticity."

As you can see in the screnshot above, the lower-polygon version of Snake is definitely a sight for sore eyes, especially since Ground Zeroes is powered by the new Fox Engine, which aims at photo realism.

"The mission will be available to both digital and boxed users, and will ultimately let players assume the appearance of the classic ‘Solid Snake’ within the Ground Zeroes universe once proper conditions are met."

Metal Gear Solid 5: Ground Zeroes is set to debut in Spring for PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One.
