The unique gravestones can brighten up even the most gruesome cemetery with their vibrant colors, customized images and funny messages. The French company called Funeral Concept started producing the unusual funeral items back in 2012 and has extended their collection to more than 100 models.

The unusual designs can be anything from vibrant, almost eye-hurting colors, to cartoon-inspired themes or even funny messages like “Thanks for not peeing on my grave.” The founder of the company, Freddy Pineau decided to go out of the box and transform the gloomy cemeteries into a display of optimistic gravestones.

Even if people are mostly surprised by his design, they are happy to be able to bring “a bit of joy to a place that is in dire need of it.” Yet, even if some may think the artwork can be exaggerated, customers came up with their own incredible designs in order to commemorate their passed-away loved ones.

The idea came after Pineau bought a laser cutter at his workplace and felt the need to create his own unique designs with painted steel. When showing the result to professionals, he was happy to discover that they believed he just found a way to fill in an actual void in the gravestones business, notes Daily Mail.

Colorful and funny gravestones are not as unbelievable as they may seem to some, Romanians have their own Merry cemetery meant to offer a different resting place for the dead with hilarious poems and hand-painted images on their funeral stones. The unique cemetery is found in a small town from Romania, called Sapanta, and it is filled with darkly humorous gravestones in a long-standing tradition.

The flaws of the deceased person are forgiven and immortalized on their gravestone in a hilarious way, with either a funny painting or a hilarious poem. The local Romanian attraction is described by dark comedy and has been a dear tradition for almost 100 years.

The idea of brightening up places that are usually perceived as gray, sad or gloomy is nothing new, but the actual ways in which the transformation is made differs from a place to another. The French company's designs make themselves unique through the array of colors and customized images they bring to the cemetery.
