14 DAY TRIAL // After losing the wedding ring for her public appearances, Melanie Griffith is continuing her PR war with Antonio Banderas, her former husband from whom she's filed for divorce after 18 years of marriage. Yesterday, the actress showed up for a public event in a sleeveless dress that showed she had covered Anotonio's name with make-up, basically removing it from her arm tattoo.
It's been two weeks since Griffith and Banderas filed for divorce after a lengthy marriage, and already there seems to be a lot of love lost between the two of them. Actually, all the love seems to have been lost, as Melanie is trying to remove every sign that she's been in a relationship with Banderas.
The 56-year-old actress attended a Film Festival in Taormina, Italy, and she decided that she was going to let the world know exactly how she felt about her ex-husband. She could have opted for a dress with sleeves, she could have even covered the entire tattoo with make-up, but no, she chose to remove only the name etched into her arm, thus giving her actor husband the biggest diss.
The Daily Mail speculates that the photos from the event don't seem to have been altered, since the modification is the same in every photo, taken from every angle. Also, it claims that the names couldn't have been lasered off already, since it takes several weeks to get the procedure done.
Griffith has had the heart-shaped tattoo with Antonio's name written inside it since 1998, when she first showed it off to the world at the movie premiere of “The Mask of Zorro.” Since then, she proudly showed it off every chance she got, but now with the divorce, bitterness seems to have replaced all that love.
Initial reports claimed that the divorce was amicable, but now more and more news points to the fact that Melanie at least is not very happy about the split and her husband. Yesterday it emerged that Griffith was fighting to get sole custody of the family's three dogs that reportedly mean the world to her.
Throughout the festival, the actress beamed with happiness, and there was hardly a moment when she wasn't smiling for the cameras, wanting to indicate that she was having a good time. Presumably, this was also one out of spite for Banderas, who is no doubt following her in the news.
The official reason for the divorce was given as “irreconcilable differences,” but mean gossip indicated that it was more in connection to the fact that Banderas was involved in a secret romance with actress Natalie Burn.
The brunette has vehemently denied any involvement, despite the fact that she was spotted dancing sensually with Banderas at the Cannes Film Festival, when Griffith was nowhere in sight.
