Chinese mobile phone maker Meizu is reportedly getting ready for the launch of its Meizu MX3 flagship smartphone on the market in the United States starting with the third quarter of the year, as it is looking to expand its global reach.

The company has already confirmed plans to release handsets in the country sometime this year, but no specific info on its plans has been unveiled until now.

However, a recent article on Ubergizmo claims that the handset vendor has confirmed at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas that the Meizu MX3 smartphone will be released in the US in Q3 this year.

No details on the pricing of the device have been offered for the time being, but it might not be too long before the cost is disclosed.

The Meizu MX3 was made official back in September with a 5.1-inch touchscreen display that can deliver an 1800 x 1080 pixels resolution. The mobile phone is powered by an Exynos 5 octa-core processor, which has been paired with 2GB of RAM.

On the back, the new handset sports an 8-megapixel camera with support for full HD video recording, complemented by a 2MP front camera for making video calls.

The specifications list of this device also includes Wi-Fi and 3G connectivity, Bluetooth 4.0, NFC capabilities, and a GPS receiver, along with the usual set of connectivity capabilities.

The mobile phone was made available for purchase in China in three different versions, with 32GB, 64GB, and 128GB of internal memory, respectively. It might arrive in the United States in all three variants.

Meizu MX3 was released with the handset vendor’s own Flyme 3.0 software loaded on top (based on the Android 4.2 Jelly Bean platform). However, it might arrive on the North American continent with a newer version of the OS.

What remains to be seen is whether Meizu will be offering its handset in the US through wireless carriers or only unlocked. Hopefully, specifics on the matter will be provided sooner rather than later, so stay tuned for more on this.
