Meizu M1 is a pretty popular Android smartphone launched by the Chinese company back in April. Although the handset is rather new, it looks like Meizu plans to release its sequel sooner than we might have expected.

According to a new report coming directly from China, the Meizu M2 could be unveiled during a dedicated event later this month.

Chinese media reports it has already received invitations to this event, so we will certainly find out what Meizu has in store for its fans in just a few weeks.

Along with the information on Meizu's unannounced M2 smartphone, sources close to the matter revealed some of the phone's specs, as well as a picture of its back panel.

Just like the previous M series smartphone, the M2 features a plastic body with glossy finish. This isn't surprising at all since Meizu targets customers who want more than decent specs at an affordable price.

Cutting down on design and materials is a valid solution for keeping the price relatively low, while offering slightly above average specs.

There's no mention of microSD card slot

Speaking of which, Meizu M2 is said to sport a 4.6-inch capacitive touchscreen display, though the size is rather weird since the M1 comes with a slightly larger 5-inch screen.

On the inside, the unannounced M2 will be equipped with a 64-bit octa-core MediaTek MT6753 processor, a Mali-T720 graphics processing unit, 2GB of RAM and 32GB of internal memory.

There's no mention of microSD card slot for memory expansion, but the phone does come with a decent amount of storage by default, so that won't be a major issue.

We also know that Meizu M2's display will support full HD (1080p) resolution and will feature Corning Gorilla Glass 3 coating.

No other details on the M2 have been leaked, but we expect more info on Meizu's upcoming smartphone to emerge in the coming days.
