Meghan McCain, daughter of presidential candidate Sen. John McCain, is, usually, a person who likes to keep to herself and not draw unnecessary attention unless she really has something important to say. With all that, just hours ago, she found herself at the center of a storm on the Internet over a photo she posted of herself – and that some deemed too much for Twitter.

The black-and-white photo in question (see to the left) shows Meghan in a simple tank top with a low décolletage, as she’s holding an Andy Warhol biography. “[My] ‘spontaneous’ night in is my Andy Warhol biography and takeout. ... I’m getting old.” Meghan tweeted. It didn’t take long for some of her 60,000 followers to start calling her names and downright abuse her for posting the photo, for which reason she even threatened to delete her page altogether.

Later on, though, McCain reconsidered and apologized for those who found any offense with the picture. “So I took a fun picture not thinking anything about what I was wearing, but apparently anything other than a pantsuit, I am a [expletive]. [When] I am alone in my apartment, I wear tank tops and sweatpants, I had no idea this makes me a ‘[expletive],’ I can’t even tell you how hurt I am.” Meghan wrote on her Twitter, after some started posting derogatory and insulting comments in regards to the photo.

As the verbal abuse continued, McCain put diplomacy aside and threatened to leave Twitter for good and delete her page, since it only made it that much easier for haters to attack her. “[Why] I have been considering deleting my twitter account, what once was fun now just seems like a vessel for harassment.” she wrote. Even later, she had another change of heart and sincerely apologized to everyone, even if some continued to write negative things about her.

“I do want to apologize to anyone that was offended by my twitpic. I have clearly made a huge mistake and am sorry 2 those that are offended.” McCain added. As of now, she seems to have taken down the photo in question.
