April O’Neil is back on the job and she means business

Megan Fox and director Michael Bay, who made her an international star by casting her as the object of desire in the first two “Transformers” films, kissed and made up after a nasty falling-out, and he cast her as April O’Neil in last year’s “Teenage Mutant Ninjas Turtles.”

Bay only served as producer on the film, but it couldn’t have been more Bay-esque if he’d directed it. The reviews were almost as bad as on the last “Transformers” film, but “TMNT” still made enough money to warrant a sequel.

And it’s shooting right now.

Megan Fox is back on set, unrecognizable this time

Photos of the actress on the set of the movie in New York City have popped up online, and they show a departure from the April in the first film in the reboot and the one in the original TV series.

This time, April is sporting curly blonde-ish hair and oversized glasses, as you can also see in the photos attached to this article. The Daily Mail has more pictures at the link.

Megan’s makeunder (this is how celebrity pundits are calling it) might not be permanent, though: this is clearly a wig, and April might be donning it for one of her undercover stories. In other words, it might appear only in a limited number of scenes, as the rest of the time she will look like in the first movie.

Still, the difference is startling. Megan Fox is one of the most beautiful and easily recognizable presences in showbiz right now, and it’s nearly impossible to tell it’s her under that head of dirty blonde hair and nerdy glasses.

Megan and April, and a comeback into the spotlight

As mentioned above, at the end of the second “Transformers” film, when the press tour for it started, it had already become clear that the leading lady, Megan, and the movie director, Bay, could hardly see eye to eye.

Their feud was long and well-documented: she compared him to Hitler and said that she was vital to the franchise, he called her dumb and unprofessional. The production team sided with Bay, releasing a scathing open letter to Fox, calling her out for being an unprofessional diva and a very mean-spirited human being.

In the end, Bay fired her and had her replaced in the third “Transformers” film. Her departure coincided with a moment when the media too had turned on her, presumably because she’d let the title of world’s hottest woman go to her head and had started making rather offensive comments.

Megan went away for a while, got married and had 2 children, dedicated herself to her family, and came back with renewed strength after patching things up with Bay.

Her choice in roles hasn’t improved much, though, if you ask the critics. April O’Neil is one tough cookie as a character, but not in these movies: she’s just the same girl as the one from “Transformers,” but with different clothes.

“TMNT 2” will be out in 2016.
