Formerly known as iPhoneDrive and later on MegaPhone, an application that allows iPhone users to manage the contents of their handsets, PhoneView, has recently been updated to include support for adding and editing notes without rebooting for each change, undo/redo support, access to iPhone Contact List data and automatic archival of SMS and call history data, just to name a few of its features. A free trial version is available.

PhoneView, coming from the guys at Ecamm Network, also lets you use your iPhone as a storage environment, if you usually have a couple of spare gigs on it. Using the updated app, you can now take your important files with you and later on place them back where they belong. Whether you've changed their contents or not, PhoneView lets you grab items from your Mac and store them on your iPhone, or vice-versa.

The software uses a Mac OS X-like interface to make it easy to transfer files between your Mac and your iPhone using drag-and-drop. You can also use the PhoneView toolbar to achieve the same results.

Just before the latest version was released (V. 2.0.1) version 2.0 of PhoneView added the ability to view synced photos by photo album. Given that PhoneView also provides easy access to your iTunes media, photos, notes, SMS messages and call history, it'll be even more of a pleasure to use this application to manage the contents of your iPhone. Just drag and drop music, videos, notes and phone data from the iPhone to your desktop or just double-click to copy.

You can also use PhoneView with an iPod touch, should you want to use it as a portable storage environment. The device acts just like a USB thumb drive or portable disk.

The latest version fixes a problem with copying multiple music files from the iPhone. Click HERE to download the free trial version of PhoneView (former MegaPhone) 2.0.1.
