Ever since Apple's iPad was first introduced we have seen a really large number of Chinese clones popping around all over the place, the Haleron H97 being one of the most interesting options available out there as this 9.7 inch offering retains a style really similar to that of the iPad while running the Windows 7 OS.

Of course that going for Microsoft's desktop operating system meant that Haleron had to use a more powerful hardware configuration in its H97 compared to other tablets available out there, the Chinese company choosing a low-power Intel Atom Z550 processors paired together with 1GB of RAM memory in order to meet the Windows 7 minimum system requirements.

Clocked at 2.0GHz, the Z550 processor has a TDP of only 2.4 W, making it ideal for tablets and other low-powered devices where battery life is of the essence.

Furthermore, this CPU is designed to be run together with Intel Poulsbo family chipsets, the H97 featuring the US15W system controller hub that makes use of PowerVR built SGX 535 integrated graphics, this solution being particularly well suited for decoding HD video content.

Moving on, Haleron also configured this with a 16GB solid state drive, a VGA webcam, WiFi, Bluetooth, and optional 3G connectivity as well as a four USB ports and memory card reader.

A HDMI output is also available, so users can watch HD content either on the 1024x768 resolution capacitive screen or on a wide screen HDTV.

But the most impressive feat of the H97 is how much can this look like the iPad while coming with such an improved hardware configuration, Haleron being only 0.1 inch thicker then Apple's tablet while retaining the same weight.

According to Haleron, besides Windows 7, this tablet will be able to run Linux, Google Android, and Chromium OS, the H97 being expected to start shipping to distributors in December. (via liliputing)
