MultiSync series member MD215MG is a 21.3-inch panel that has just received official clearance for being sued by trained physicians as a medical diagnostic display in mammography images.

NEC may not be that focused on the consumer market, but its business and industrial solutions are spread far and wide.

The MultiSync line is one that includes many different displays, each with their own purpose and set of features.

In this instance, the one product that is gaining recognition is the MultiSync MD215MG medical diagnostic display.

With a screen size of 21.3 inches, it has a native resolution of 2,560 x 2,048 pixels and a brightness of 1,100 cd/m2.

The reason it is making the news is because it earned the Food & Drug Administration 510(k) market clearance.

This means that physicians can use it in mammography images for diagnosis in medical imaging and Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS). Such devices are used in hospitals and other healthcare facilities, like urgent care centers.

“The clearance of the MD215MG marks the second FDA certification for the MultiSync MD Series this year, which is a testament to NEC’s commitment to continually advancing the medical display market,” said Art Marshall, Product Manager for Professional Desktop and Medical Displays at NEC Display Solutions.

“The MD215MG is designed specifically with healthcare professionals in mind and offers reliable screen performance with functional technologies that are required to be productive in digital mammography.”

With a price of $13,799 (it includes the MDCHROMA5 sensor for use with GammaCompMD QA quality assurance software), the product is backed by a 5-year warranty.

Buyers will enjoy the benefits of 11.9-bit internal LUT with 256 levels of gray, an ambient sensor, a protective panel over the screen, RoHS compliance and DVI-D connectivity, plus an USB hub. NEC also made sure to implement factory calibration and adjustments to brightness, among other things.
