According to consulting company Gallup, some two thirds of Republicans are currently quite convinced that media outlets in the United States are embellishing reports on climate change.

More precisely, they argue that, when discussed in the media, this phenomenon is presented in a way more dramatic manner than it should.

Otherwise put, outlets are guilty of exaggerating the seriousness of climate change and its potential impact on human society and the natural world.

Ironically enough, the consulting firm claims that the United States is home to quite a lot of Democrats who also think that the media is not covering climate change as accurately as it should.

The only difference is that, unlike the Republicans, these people think that outlets underestimate climate change, Grist tells us.

Thus, some 50% of Democrats think that this phenomenon is more serious than the media makes it to be, the same source reports.

All in all, about 42% of the people in the United States, regardless of their political orientation, think that news outlets more often than not exaggerate the effects of climate change.

By comparison, just one third of Americans shared this opinion back in 2006. In 2010, on the other hand, 48% of those polled said that climate change was not as dangerous as the media was reporting it to be.
