Publisher Electronic Arts has stated that their first person shooter Medal of Honor has managed to sell more than 1.5 million units worldwide in its first five days since it was released on the United States market.

The Chief Executive Officer of the company, John Ricitiello, says that the new game in the franchise has generated more than 100 million dollars in revenue and is on track on being one of the best performing titles for the company during this quarter.

Electronic Arts is eager to dispel the image that the rebooted Medal of Honor has failed to impress in terms of reviews and is not gaining enough traction with gamers.

The publisher says that the game not only reached the top position in the United Kingdom sales chart but it has done so by selling better than any of the titles launched so far in its series.

Some analysts suggested that the bad reviews for Medal of Honor, which has an Metacritic average score hovering around 75, are to blame for a drop in the price share of Electronic Arts but the company responded saying, “Medal of Honor is part of a larger EA strategy to take share in the shooter category. This is a marathon not a sprint - today's Medal of Honor launch represents a step forward in that race.”

Medal of Honor has moved to modern times and takes the player to Afghanistan, with a host of point of views used to tell the story of an operation early during the invasion.

We've been playing the new Medal of Honor for a few days and the game has both impressive moments, when the burden of war is apparent and adrenaline pumps through the veins of the player, and sections that seem to be added just to make sure that the game offers the same experience as the Call of Duty series during its last two installments.
