The tasty replica packs 1,600 pounds (726 kilograms) of beef, pork and turkey jerky

Unless you live in the United States and/or have an extremely passionate and as long-term as it gets relationship with meat, you are probably oblivious to the fact that, this June 12, the country celebrates its third annual National Jerky Day.

To mark the occasion, a jerky company by the name Jack Link's has gone through the trouble of creating a massive and surprisingly mouth-watering replica of the country's Mount Rushmore National Memorial.

The replica, part of which is featured in the photo above, is almost entirely made from beef, pork, and turkey jerky. All in all, the sculpture is said to pack an impressive 1,600 pounds (726 kilograms) of meat, Huffington Post informs.

In fact, legend has it that this 1,400 cubic feet (that's about 40 cubic meters, for those who use another system) Mount Rushmore replica carries just the right amount of meat to make your average Joe's and Jane's heart skip a beat just by looking at it.

The sculpture, cleverly nicknamed Meat Rushmore, took about 1,400 hours to make, and as many as 20 people helped piece it together. Art director Alex Valhouli explains that, not at all surprisingly, the project proved quite challenging.

“The big challenge with meat sculpting is that it hasn't been done before. You can't possibly know what to expect,” the art director says in a promotional video that you might want to watch and that is only 1-2 seconds of scrolling down away.

Information shared with the public says Meat Rushmore is scheduled to be on display in New York City this June 12, from 8 a.m. until 6 p.m. local time. Apparently, Jack Link's is ready and willing to offer free jerky samples during the celebration.

Whether these samples will be peeled off the presidents' faces or if maybe the jerky company will bring them along carefully tucked away inside coolers or fridges is a mystery yet to be solved. Still, if it`s the first, chances are there will be plenty of jerky to go around.

Interestingly enough, this is not the first time Jack Link's pulls a stunt like this one. On the contrary, The Herald Sun tells us that, back in 2012, the jerky company introduced the public to two meat portraits dubbed “Barack Obameat” and “Meat Romney.”

Should Jack Link's continue to scale up its projects in the years to come, we might get to see a meat replica of the Statue of Liberty sometime in the not-so-distant future. If we're really lucky, maybe it will use jerky to make a life-size replica of Earth, and we'll all get to move there and live happily ever after.
