There are some things that get better with age, and McIntosh’s MC275 tube power amplifier that was launched 50 years back seems to be one of those things, so McIntosh just released a new version of this thing for its gold anniversary that comes plated with nothing other than gold.

Even if you aren't such a great fan of McIntosh, is hard not to appreciate the devilish good looks of the Limited Edition MC275.

Even more impressive however is the fact that McIntosh hasn't stopped just at painting the amp in gold, but also made a series of modifications to it meant to bring it in 2011.

These include a Sentry Monitor circuit that shuts down the amp if a tube happens to wear out, and Power Control input and output which allows for the device to be powered on or off using a cable connection to another McIntosh product as well as a multi-color LED that displays levels.

The only downside to the McIntosh 50th Anniversary Limited Edition MC275 tube power amplifier? Well, the $6500 (4721 Euros) price tag is definitely a candidate.
