Microsoft has acknowledged that they have vulnerabilities in their programs and are making users aware of this, at the same time issuing patches. The vulnerabilities, should they remain unattended, could be exploited by malicious users to cause serious problems. It is important that you patch up the holes and stay secure. And if you don't want to listen to a poor journalist saying this, then listen to some of the greatest security experts out there!

"Having the latest security patches in place is a must for businesses and home users alike, or you run the gauntlet of being the victim of a hacker attack," said Graham Cluley, senior technology consultant at Sophos. "Network Access Control can help organizations enforce security policies, ensuring that any non-compliant device is locked down and unable to jeopardize the network." Sophos also recommends that organizations roll-out patches as a matter of urgency. As for McAfee, well, they give the same piece of advice, saying you can't have good security without being up-to-date!

"Today's Microsoft patches emphasize the need for proactive browser protection and the risk of surfing the Web unprotected," said Dave Marcus, security research and communications manager at McAfee Avert Labs. "Many of the vulnerabilities addressed by the fixes could be exploited if a Windows user simply clicks a malicious Web link, a favorite attack method among cybercriminals. Users need to be more careful than ever when surfing the Internet."

If you want to, go ahead and read this article written by one of my colleagues to find out more about the latest vulnerabilities patched by Microsoft. Their products are really popular and I bet that many of you are running Windows right now! If my presumptions are right, just go to this address and have your operating system scanned for Microsoft security vulnerabilities. You do want to stay secure, don't you?
