Security software company McAfee has just announced the availability of Mobile Security 2.0 for Android, BlackBerry and Symbian devices.

The application is available for download via Android Market, Nokia Store and BlackBerry App World. New subscribers can purchase the application for $29.99 (23 EUR), while existing subscribers can update for free.

The latest version of Mobile Security app developed by McAfee includes several new features, such as the McAfee App Alert, which allows users to check important information about what apps are doing with their sensitive data.

In addition, the application comes with call and SMS filtering, which allows users to block unwanted numbers and spam texts.

It is also worth mentioning that starting today the app is powered by the McAfee Global Threat Intelligence network, allowing for continuous survey of global threat data in order to identify and block new threats with OTA (over-the-air) updates.

Other highlights of the security application McAfee Mobile Security software includes: Anti-virus, Anti-spyware and Anti-phishing protection, Web Protection, Anti-theft protection, Device Lock, Remotely Wipe Data, as well as Backup and Restore Data.

McAfee also offers a 7-day trial for Android devices, which protects the smartphone for seven days, but users won’t be able to take advantage of all features available in the full version.

McAfee Mobile Security 2.0 is available as a free download via Android Market and is fully compatible with all devices running Android 2.1 and up.

McAfee Mobile Security 2.0 now offers Android, BlackBerry and Symbian users definitive mobile technology to protect against the most harmful threats to mobile devices today.

It is increasingly clear that using a smartphone without security means any sensitive information, such as photos, bank account information or company data on that mobile device is at risk of falling into the wrong hands,” said John Thode, executive vice president and general manager, Consumer, Mobile and Small Business at McAfee.
