The company has the necessary integrated technologies to accomplish the task

Intel-owned McAfee has announced its strategy for helping organizations in both the public and private sector in securing their networks against cyber threats.

The security solutions provider highlights the fact that traditional products are not efficient, which is why it’s focusing not only on sophisticated integrated technologies, but also on the use of global and local threat intelligence.

To address the challenges, McAfee has developed a framework that enables organizations to oversee both the network and endpoints from a centralized management console that provides visibility across all threat vectors.

The Security Connected framework encompasses solutions designed to protect an organization’s systems by integrating with endpoint security to share real-time information, threat intelligence and workflows. The framework is designed for maximum availability, integrity, security, manageability and flexibility.

“Gone are the days when you could deploy a new standalone security appliance to protect your entire network,” commented Pat Calhoun, general manager of network security at McAfee.

“The advanced attacks that we're seeing today happen far too quickly and can easily overwhelm security products that are operating solo.”

The list of integrated technologies offered by McAfee includes solutions such as Advanced Threat Defense, Threat Intelligence Exchange, Next Generation Firewall, and Network Intrusion Prevention.

The McAfee Next Generation Firewall leverages global threat intelligence to ensure that it’s always up to date on the latest threats in order to cut down the time needed to identify attacks and minimize the impact of malicious attempts on performance.

“In our demanding environment, there are only a few systems on the market that are capable of meeting our criteria,” noted Andreas Schreiber, chief business development officer at the RWTH Aachen University.

“McAfee Next Generation Firewall guarantees both optimal protection and high availability--and with a price performance ratio suitable for a public institution. With McAfee Next Generation Firewall, RWTH is well equipped for the future.”

While integrated technologies are important, McAfee highlights that threat intelligence is also critical for efficient network security. The company’s Threat Intelligence Solution is designed to optimize security for each customer by enabling them to orchestrate security controls in an effort to prevent data exfiltration, protect assets against new malware, and identify attack patterns.

“Just as a team is more powerful than an individual, a beneficial multiplier effect occurs when network security solutions are connected to each other, to endpoints and other intelligence sources -- the collective security analysis from these solutions is greater than that of a single solution,” said Calhoun.
