All for the better of enterprises

McAfee are seriously improving the security solutions that they offer. They are now not only releasing new devices to help companies achieve web-safeness, but also, they're acquiring another company to help them build better software.

Let me give you more details about this - they've released McAfee? Data Loss Prevention Host 2.0 in September. The new version includes comprehensive device management and integration with McAfee ePolicy Orchestrator? (ePO?). It is a key component of the industry's most comprehensive solution for preventing both accidental and malicious data loss.

"Enterprises face dire consequences because they are losing confidential data without even knowing it," said Vimal Solanki, senior director of marketing for McAfee. "McAfee DLP protects enterprises from the risks of financial loss, brand damage, competitive disadvantage, lost customers and non-compliance."

That's one thing to help security, but they've also announced that they're going to acquire SafeBoot. They are going to pay $350 million for it, but it's going to help them offer more comprehensive data protection solutions. So, as you can see, they're doing everything they can to build modules that protect data.

"SafeBoot's industry-leading mobile security solutions address a critical pain point for customers &emdash; the protection of confidential and proprietary information," said Dave DeWalt chief executive officer and president of McAfee. "With the acquisition of SafeBoot, McAfee becomes a leader in the fast-growing $1 billion encryption market and we will be able to offer a complete data protection solution that combines SafeBoot's device, full-disk and content encryption with McAfee's data loss prevention solutions. This combination helps advance our Security Risk Management strategy and extend our leadership at the end-point." "We believe this acquisition will deliver a very attractive return for our shareholders," said Eric F. Brown, chief financial officer and chief operating officer, McAfee. "The combination of these two companies creates opportunities to build top-line synergies and generate additional growth by leveraging the combined product, technology and sales and marketing capabilities of both companies, to deliver best-in-class data protection."

The acquisition is expected to close before the end of the year, but in any case, I think it's all for the better of security. McAfee is one of the companies that really earned their place amongst the leaders on the market and seeing that they're expanding and always releasing new products, means web-safeness should increase!
