Even if Maxtor was bought last year by Seagate, the manufacturer is still rolling out new products such as the enhanced OneTouch III Mini Edition available in two capacities - of 60 and 100 GB.

The OneTouch Mini Drive comes in a genuine stylish manner, featuring a silvery futuristic look and a seven ounces weight. But Maxtor's latest and maybe last product also comes bundled with a suite of software applications which are meant to protect and manage data, but also to create automatic backup, data encryption, data synchronization and system rollback.

"The Maxtor OneTouch III Mini Edition has two levels of security, one is the software encryption which protects the data on its being lost or stolen. Then there is the Maxtor DriveLock firmware which further restricts access to stored data if used by some one else. The drive is available in two sizes, 60GB or 100GB and is easily compatible with Microsoft Windows 2000 or XP computer via a USB 2.0 or USB 1.1 port," informs Mobile Whack.

But also Seagate has launched a Maxtor branded product - the Maxtor Fusion personal media solution, which is said to deliver a safe, central location on the user's network to hold large amounts of digital photos, videos, music and documents. "Seagate is addressing a growing desire for people to easily manage, share and enjoy their digital content, regardless of media type, from anywhere at any time using a web browser," said Jim Druckrey, senior vice president and general manager, Seagate Branded Solutions.

The Maxtor Fusion solution offers a high-speed Gigabit Ethernet network port and a half-terabyte (500GB) of networked storage that can be instantly accessed via the web and the user can also create "microshares", small circles which are meant to share multimedia content.

Moreover, the Public Site offers a special developed function which can be used to create personal web pages featuring pictures, videos, music and even documents.
