Great news for fans of EA’s third-person-shooting RPG, Mass Effect Infiltrator! There’s a new mission to be downloaded as part of update 1.0.3 which also delivers a bunch of new features by popular demand, including manual aiming and new mission rewards.

Electronic Arts calls Mass Effect Infiltrator 1.0.3 a “massive update,” which delivers a new bonus mission in which players jump into the boots of a captured Turian experiment victim who must escape the medical bay.

“Also, by popular demand, we’ve added the following features,” says the development studio:

• Manual Aiming – Use your own skills to take down enemies. Simply disable the “tap-to-aim” function in the Options section to try it. We’ve also improved the responsiveness of “tap-to-aim.” • New Mission Rewards – Earn bonus credits and boost War Assets if you score 3 stars on every checkpoint. • Paragon & Renegade – Now your facial scars and biotic colors will change with the choices you make (are you good or evil)? • Optimized for the new iPad – Discover high-resolution gaming like never before with smoother performance and Retina display enhancements!

EA says the development team behind the iOS version of Mass Effect has been coding hard to make some behind-the-scenes improvements to enhance overall gameplay, encouraging players to give the game a five star rating on iTunes if they enjoy the new content.

More is on the way, according to the famous developer and publisher of video games.

The original iPhone iteration in the Mass Effect series was announced by BioWare on May 2nd, 2009. Mass Effect Galaxy, as it was called, acted as a side-story in the series focusing on the character Jacob, who appears in Mass Effect 2 as a party member.

The iPhone game has never been considered a prequel in the series, but rather a part of BioWare's plan to expand the series' universe, according to BioWare's Chris Priestly.
