Seeing as how Mass Effect 3 was originally presented back at the 2010 Spike TV Video Game Awards, BioWare arrived at the 2011 edition of the VGAs with a brand new trailer, this time showcasing a stunning bit of gameplay from one of the game’s levels, where the protagonist, Commander Shepard, and his team, composed of fan favorite Wrex and the new James Vega, go up against a hulking Reaper.

Mass Effect 3 is set to conclude the adventures of Commander Shepard, but it’s going to end on an impressive note, as the hero, or heroine, in some cases, needs to unite all the races in the galaxy against the massive Reapers, a race of sentient space ships that want to obliterate every last single intelligent organism.

The last two games already showcased quite a lot of set piece moments, while combining them with top notch gameplay and lots of decision making, but the third one is set to top them in pretty much every way.

In order to properly showcase this, BioWare arrived at the 2011 VGAs with a new gameplay trailer, this time presenting Shepard’s adventure in a desert-like environment, with him and his team trying to get to a special console, while fending off the attacks of a massive Reaper.

Fortunately for Shepard, he gets a little help from an unlikely ally, but we won’t spoil that part for you.

Besides the actual adventure, the video also presents some of the more acrobatic moves learned by Shepard since the end of Mass Effect 2, including combat rolls and dodges that help him avoid the deadly lasers of the Reaper.

We already know that his combat options have greatly increased, so these more agile moves are certain to help him (or her) once the fighting starts to heat up.

Check out the new Mass Effect 3 trailer below and get ready for the game on March 6, 2012, for the PC, PS3 and Xbox 360.
