Barely did Mass Effect 3 receive its Extended Cut downloadable add-on yesterday and already intrepid players have uncovered files that hint at a new story-based DLC that will be launched in the near future and which focuses on a new Reaper ship called Leviathan.

Mass Effect 3 delivered a lengthy story, but its endings have disappointed quite a few players. As such, developer BioWare released a special Extended Cut add-on, which introduced new scenes to the game’s conclusion and even added a whole new ending variant.

Now, after scouring through the files of the expansion, some BioWare Social Network users have uncovered references to dialog sequences for a brand new downloadable add-on.

Be wary, as spoilers follow.

According to the mentions, which have been added to PasteBin, Commander Shepard needs to rescue a human scientist named Ann Brynson, who is located in a mining facility that’s been indoctrinated by a Reaper ship called Leaviathan.

This isn’t a regular Reaper, however, as Leviathan apparently defected from amidst his own kind and even killed a fellow ship while trying to escape.

Depending on how players interact with Leviathan during the conflict, he can even join his fight against the Reapers as a whole, possibly as a War Asset. The player’s choices also affect the fate of Brynson who can either live or die at the end of the mission.

Hardcore Mass Effect fans will no doubt remember that Leviathan was mentioned as early as the first game in the series, as players could scan a planet and find a presumed-dead starship called the Leviathan of Dis.

Balak, a character first met by Shepard during Mass Effect 1’s Bring Down the Sky DLC, mentions in Mass Effect 3 that the Batarians have also uncovered the Reaper ship and managed to awaken it, presumably kicking off the chain of events that endangered Ann Brynson.

Expect to hear more about this potential DLC for Mass Effect 3 soon.
