Marvel vs. Capcom 3 is set to be one of the most important fighting games of next year, and has just seen four new characters be revealed during last weekend's New York Comic Con, which will join the ranks of the two opposing factions.

The fighting game will follow in the footsteps of the Marvel vs. Capcom 2 title that was released at the beginning of the decade on the Sega Genesis, and recently ported to the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in the form of a remastered downloadable game.

Capcom has already pledged its support for the title, and says that it will become even bigger than Street Fighter IV, a title released two years ago for the PS3 and Xbox 360.

Now, the company has just revealed four more characters that will be included in the game, including Nathan 'Rad' Spencer, from the recent Bionic Commando reboot, Sir Arthur, from Ghost 'n Goblins, as well as two Marvel villains, M.O.D.O.K. and Magneto.

Arthur and Spencer will join the Capcom side, which is currently composed out of Albert Wesker, Tron Bonne, Viewtiful Joe, Amaterasu, Dante, Ryu, Morrigan, Chris Redfield, Felicia, Trish and Chun-Li.

The two Marvel villains will team up with characters like Spider-Man, X-23, Dormmamu, Thor, Deadpool, Hulk, Wolverine, Iron Man, Captain America, Doctor Doom and Super-Skrull, all in the Marvel side.

While most people certainly didn't expect M.O.D.O.K., Spencer or Arthur to be featured in the game, Magneto was definitely eagerly anticipated by long time X-Men fans, which were also treated with two other announcements during the New York Comic Con, one for X-Men Destiny and one for X-Men Arcade.

Marvel vs. Capcom 3 is scheduled to appear at the beginning of next year for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

Until then, you can check out some screenshots below with the four new characters in action, as well as two trailers with M.O.D.O.K and Magneto, and one focusing on the whole game.
