14 DAY TRIAL // Paul Rudd is moving from comedy and romantic dramas to the superhero genre. He is set to play Ant-Man in Marvel’s next project with the same name and we now have an idea of how he will look when the movie drops in July 2015.
Well, sort of. Marvel released the first photo of Rudd in character and it’s quite surprising, perhaps for the worst reasons possible, because it shows absolutely nothing about the character he’ll be playing, con-man Scott Lang.
Still, you know what they say, beggars can’t be choosers so we’ll just have to settle for what we got. With the film now in production on location, we will probably get a chance to see Rudd in the Ant-Man costume very soon, whether via the official channels or through leaks, or both.
“Armed with the astonishing ability to shrink in scale but increase in strength, con-man Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) must embrace his inner-hero and help his mentor, Dr. Hank Pym (Michael Douglas), protect the secret behind his spectacular Ant-Man suit from a new generation of towering threats,” the synopsis of the film says.
“Against seemingly insurmountable obstacles, Pym and Lang must plan and pull off a heist that will save the world,” Marvel adds. Ant-Man is one of the original founders of The Avengers, so expect to see him pop up in future “Avengers” installments too, but only after his solo movie comes out.
“Ant-Man” is directed by Peyton Reed and also stars Douglas, Evangeline Lilly, and Michael Pena. Below is the original tweet from Marvel.
