Scarlett Johansson was introduced as Black Widow in “Iron Man 2,” which coincides with the time Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige started promising fans a spinoff movie just for her. He is now saying they should look forward to it after “Avengers: Age of Ultron.”

This character has been getting increasingly more screentime with each new Marvel release, which will culminate with this year’s “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” and, afterwards, the second “Avengers” release.

Feige says that, if everything goes according to plan, Johansson will start working on her standalone movie after the latter, Comic Book Movie reports.

“We start filming the next Avengers film at the end of March. [Black] Widow’s part in that is very big. We learn more about her past and learn more about where she came from and how she became in that film,” Feige says.

“The notion of exploring that even further in her own film would be great, and we have some development work with that,” he adds.

Fans might chime in to say, well, it was about time!
