A companion for the Mac OS X application

Marketcircle, the company responsible for two extraordinary productivity tools for Mac, Daylite and Billings, has announced a mobile sidekick for the former, calling it Daylite touch, of course. iPhone and iPod touch users will be able to book meetings, delegate tasks, track appointments, manage a calendar, and keep tabs on all of their projects, even on the go.

Winner of a Macworld Best of Show award, Daylite touch is a companion for Marketcircle's desktop productivity application, Daylite. The iPhone app syncs data with the desktop version of Daylite. “We've seen a lot of iPhone apps in our time, but we haven't seen many as deep as Marketcirlce's forthcoming Daylite touch,” the folks at Macworld say. Marketcircle CEO, Alykhan Jetha, has shared a few thoughts on his blog too.

“I’m extremely proud of the fact that we won a Macworld Best of Show award for Daylite Touch,” he states. “For many years, we’ve dreamed of a true mobile companion for Daylite, but as we looked at the various phone SDK’s out there (Palm, RIM and Windows Mobile), we would cringe at the thought of having to develop for those platforms. We just couldn’t bring ourselves to do it. [...] Then, on March 6th, 2008, one of our engineers luckily went to the Apple Developer site, just as Apple posted the link for the new SDK. He downloaded it immediately. [...] We were so excited, we even forgot about lunch that day as we explored the SDK to see what we could and couldn’t do. That was the very day Daylite Touch development began,” Marketcircle's CEO reveals.

Daylite touch will be available in Q1 2009. The company hasn't priced the app yet. However, Daylite Touch will require Daylite 3.9 (a free upgrade for existing users) and a new Daylite Touch device license for each device that will sync with the user's database. Marketcircle expects the tool to be competitive with similar apps on other mobile platforms, so it's likely going to be a paid app.
