Some of you might already know that Technical Fellow Mark Russinovich transitioned from Windows to a new role in the Platform and Services division.

If you ever wondered what was the move about then make sure to watch the video embedded at the bottom the article.

Russinovich was at TechEd 2010 in Berlin earlier this year where he presented a number of session, focusing on Windows Azure, Windows SysInternals and other topics.

The interview was filmed at the start of November 2010 in Messe Berlin, but it just went live on TechNet Edge, and I thought you might be interested to see what Russinovich had to say.

“One of our favorites, Mark Russinovich, stops by to talk about Windows Azure as he moved to the Windows Azure Team. Is he still building SysInternals tools?

“Will he still write Windows Internals and why is the term “Zero Day” one of the hits when you Bing his name? In this interview you will learn all about that, and more,” a TechNet Edge representative stated.

In addition to revealing the reasons why he transitioned to Windows Azure, Russinovich also talks about Microsoft’s extensive Cloud efforts.

As customers already know, the software giant is offering platform as a service (PaaS), software as a service (SaaS) and infrastructure as a service (IaaS) to companies looking to embrace the Cloud. Watch the video to get additional details.

The promise from Russinovich is that there will be at least one more SysInternals book coming, and that he will continue to work on the tools as a hobby.

It appears that 2011 will bring with it Russinovich’s debut as an author of a cyber-thriller titled Zero Day. He also gives a few details about the first novel that will be published, which Bill Gates apparently already got to read.
