Mario Kart 3D, the upcoming re-release of the classic Mario Kart for the Nintendo 3DS, works really great using the new device's technology, at least according to the creator of the Mario franchise, Shigeru Miyamoto.

Nintendo is getting ready to release the new 3DS handheld console, which will support 3D without the need of special glasses, a first for portable gaming consoles.

As you can imagine, the Japanese company is throwing its best franchises at it, including its Mario mascot, which will see multiple titles, including Mario Kart 3D.

According to the creator of the popular Italian plumber, Shigeru Miyamoto, the whole racing experience works great on the 3DS.

"What's really exciting is our new ability to have a sense of depth. Once you have the true 3D visual it becomes very clear where all the objects are on that space, so jumping on objects becomes easier."

"We've found that pulling the camera far back to observe the car racing works really well," said the games designer in an interview.

Miyamoto also proclaimed, a few weeks ago, that the 3D technology would make creating games much easier and add a special sense of depth to the whole gaming experience.

The Nintendo 3DS is set to be released this February in its native Japan and will arrive in the rest of the world around March.

The device will be pretty expensive, but Nintendo is certain that the new technology, as well as the solid lineup, both from Nintendo itself and from third-party developers like Konami, Capcom or EA, will win over lots of customers, resulting in big sales.

So far, Miyamoto declined to reveal when Mario Kart 3D is actually released, but expect a busy 2011 for the Japanese company, right after the 3DS will be launched around the world.
