Marilyn Manson likes to shock, but it could very well be that he took his love for this practice a bit too far this time. Last week, the rocker wrote on both his MySpace and Facebook pages that he had been diagnosed with the Swine Flu, a claim his representatives are now forced to infirm to the four winds, as SFGate: Daily Dish reports.

Not only is Manson not infected with the dreaded virus, but he’s also healthy enough to continue with his tour as scheduled, a statement coming from his representatives and being circulated to most media outlets reads. Both posts saying otherwise have been deleted in the meanwhile, with the rocker still to make a statement on what may have prompted him to lie to his fans this way, many of whom actually took him to his word that he had contracted the virus.

“The Gillett Entertainment Group and Live Nation confirmed today that contrary to rumors circulating, Marilyn Manson is not suffering from swine flu.” the statement coming from Manson’s Canadian tour organizer writes. Consequently, since he’s not ill, the rocker will continue with the tour as initially scheduled and announced, it is further being said. The organizers make no mention either of what might have been the reason behind Manson’s strange announcement of last week.

“So I have officially been diagnosed, by a real doctor, with THE SWINE FLU.” Manson said in a post on his MySpace and Facebook pages. Although the diagnosis would have scared another man (or woman), the controversial rocker seemed unfazed by it, even joking about the ways he could have contracted the virus, one of them also including getting up close and personal with a pig.

“I know everyone will suggest that [expletive] a pig is how this disease was obtained. However, the doctor said, my past choices in women have, in ‘no way’ contributed to... me acquiring this mysterious sickness. Unfortunately, I am going to survive. M.” Manson further wrote in the post. Fortunately, it seems it was all just a lie.
