Fans of Marilyn Manson should be happy to know that he's just landed a brand new gig – and on a hit show, no less. The rocker will appear in season 6 of Showtime's “Californication.”

The downside of this, as Vulture also points out, is that, instead of being allowed to prove himself, Manson will only be playing a (presumably sanitized) version of himself, which will probably won't be as groundbreaking as producers imagine it would be.

“Manson will be playing himself, which is sort of a letdown. Wouldn't it be more fun if he were playing a college dean or something? Showing some range?” Vulture asks.

“The new season finds Hank writing a rock opera, though we'll never understand how he squeezes in work given how busy he must be carousing and womanizing,” adds the same media outlet.

Season 6 premieres early next year, so if this is something that got you excited, keep an eye out for more details.
