Stylists say the low-cut creation was a bit of an exaggeration

At last night’s Golden Globe Awards, what many ladies walking the red carpet had in common was, as the stylists put it, a very low cut cleavage. However, of the lot, none had such a plunging neckline as singer Mariah Carey, there for the drama “Precious,” whose black Herve Leger gown was quite a stretch, as PopEater puts it.

This year, cleavage was “the new purse,” with the ladies going for low-cut creations or fancy corsets and body hugging dresses or ball gowns. Mariah Carey, always a fan of tight designs, chose to go for a black Herve Leger creation that went down almost to her navel, which has prompted many a fashion insider and stylist to say she went a bit overboard, literally leaving nothing to the imagination.

“Mariah Carey played it dowdy in ‘Precious’ but made up for it with her down to there gown that begged the question: How are those things standing up on their own? Unfortunately bringing her own globes to the event did not score her points with fashion critics. ‘If I had to stare at Mariah’s two [breasts] for another second I may have clawed my eyes out. I feel like she let those two puppies out so people wouldn’t look at her droopy Jack Daniels eyes,’ said PopWrap’s Ryan Brockington,” PopEater writes.

“It seems like Mariah Carey wanted to rock her own set of globes on the Golden Globes red carpet this year, and it was a big fashion fail. Not only did it look like she wanted the world to know she upgraded the size of her implants, but she left nothing to the imagination. If you have it, flaunt it. Yes, even on a red carpet, but you have to look at cleavage as an accessory, dress appropriately around it and wear it tastefully. Olivia Wilde and Fergie both showed off their assets in a respectable fashion,” style expert Jeannine Morris adds for the same publication.

All in all, that dress did not look good on Mariah, style experts agree. Oddly enough, the fact that she chose to downplay her entire look by going for a very simple hairdo only added more effect to the eye-popping outfit, which, in turn, only seemed to get critics more set against her.
